Standing proud is the matriarch of a family and within her resides billions of data points and information that could help identify victims and/or assailants. Familial DNA and genetic family testing are leading the way in how we can bring so many unidentified Jane Does home and help bring closure to families. Already 60 cases have been solved thanks to ancestral DNA. The greatest hurdle law enforcement and communities have is the lack of funding and staffing to handle all of the DNA submitted under regular circumstances. Backlogs are terrible and each state has organizations that are trying to help raise funding and increase staffing.
